The Strokes

As lead singer of The Strokes, you’d have to imagine Julian Casablancas has had exposure to every fast food restaurant during his extensive travels of America. Apparently that’s not the case.

While it would seem oddly prescient of the band to drop an album with a title so similar to “the new normal” that people spoke about after the emergence of the coronavirus, Julian admits his thoughts were elsewhere when nailing down the album’s name.

It’s always a treat to find out what music gives another artist the same feelings their own work brings to their legions of fans. Not only does it show their influences, but you usually get a nice playlist out of it too.

“We’re working on plenty of songs,” Julian tells RADIO.COM, “but there’s a song coming out soon actually, probably before the end of the year to be honest.”

The Strokes released ‘The New Abnormal,’ the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s ‘Comedown Machine,’ in April. It also includes the single “Bad Decisions.”
