Life is messy sometimes, especially for lovers of all things Nine Inch Nails. Literally.

“This will make a mess,” reads the “physical component” that fans received in the mail today. The component seems to be a package of photos and writings that come in a sleeve—a sleeve covered in black powder.

Back in December of last year, the band surprise released the EP Not the Actual Events. According to NIN’s website, if you ordered the digital copy, you’d also receive a cryptic “physical component” in the mail “for you to deal with.” It was pretty unclear what was meant by that until now. How very Trent Reznor.

In other NIN news, the band recently announced they’ll be playing New York City’s Panorama Festival this July, which marks their first live show since 2014. In honor of the occasion, we’ve got a little NIN throwback for you below. Enjoy!
