Weezer released their latest album, Pacific Daydream, earlier this fall, and while a lot of the songs on the album sound different than what you may have come to expect from the band, one thing’s remained consistent: The band combines happy tunes with sad lyrics.

One of the album’s tracks, “Happy Hour,” falls in line with this theme. In the video above, frontman Rivers Cuomo explains that he employed a “stream of consciousness” method to write the song’s lyrics, combining the idea of a great time with sadness.
