In honor of Bob Ross, Michigan plants 1,000 'Happy Trees'

Volunteers replace old, damaged trees with saplings, which are grown by prison inmates

Since May, hundreds of volunteers have planted more than 1,000 'happy little tree' saplings all across Michigan State Parks in honor of the late, Bob Ross. The program was also timed to coincide with the centennial of Michigan’s state parks, replacing the program previously known as “prison grow”.
